One of the last frontiers in science is the brain science. And, one of the best platforms helping us to discern the physical principles behind human-like behaviors and human-like intelligence is humanoid robot. In addition, humanoid technology enables a wider range of applications which requires the combined effort of legged locomotion, dexterous manipulation and human-like intelligence.
This research program is to investigate new robot systems and new AI theory supported by wireless communication, positioning and identification techniques with the aim of developing the humanoid robots of next generation, which can be deployed to achieve challenging applications such as:
- homeland security
- search and rescue
- home care
- elderly care
- edutainment
- effective acquisition, delivery and interaction of digital media to, and with, users in real space, real-time and real-application environment.
Our research starts with the embodiment of mechanism, sensors, actuators, power supplies, controllers and other devices, with built-in: a) cognitive control and b) automatic control
which intelligently regulate the complex dynamics of a humanoid robot, such as
and guarantee the achievement of complex human-like behaviors in: a) legged locomotion and b) dexterous manipulation.
