Guideway and Platform Intrusion Detection System for Light Rail

Intrusions on guideways of light rail or underground trains have always been an acute problem. In particular, children and young people jumped down and play on the edge of platforms account for most of such intrusions that have caused serious impact in public safety.  A laser radar based system has been set up since 2001 at SLRT Bukit Panjang station to detect intrusions(jointly developed by EEE/NTU and SLRT). The trial has been very successful. After the system is in operation, real intrusions of people, animal and objects have been detected. If you want to know more about this project, read on:
