Award

In January 2006, X.-C. Yuan was elected as Fellow of SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering, for his contributions to micro-optics.

In May 2006, PhD student Lin Jiao won the Tan Kah Kee（陈嘉庚）Young Inventor's Award (Merit) in the Defense Science Section, for his research on secure optical wireless data transfer using states of orbital angular momentum (OAM) of light. The Merit Award is the highest award given in this section in year 2006.
