Curriculum Vitae Larry X.-C. Yuan studied optical engineering in Tianjin University between 1981 and 1988 and he was awarded the bachelor degree in 1985 and the master degree in 1988 respectively. He was later awarded a Hong Kong KC Wong Education Foundation Scholarship to do a Ph.D. degree in physics at King’s College London, where he was awarded a Ph.D. degree with a specific focus on nano-scale optics in 1994. Between 1994 and 1999, he was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Cavendish Laboratory of Cambridge University, where he implemented research projects on nano-optics and super-resolution microscopy. He joined Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in September of 1999, where he established the micro-optics group in the Photonics Research Centre. Since 2000, his group has been active in micro-optics research area in the international optics and photonics community, including optical materials, design and fabrication of discrete and integrated elements and systems-related issues at micro- and nano-scale for optical manipulation, sensing and imaging applications. In January of 2006, he was elected as Fellow of SPIE – The International Society for Optical Engineering for his contributions in micro-optics. Currently, he is an Associate Professor with the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of NTU. He has actively been involved in various technical program committees and Singapore local sections of SPIE and the Optical Society of America (OSA). He has published numerous referred journal publications and invited articles.
