Research Interests
Our research program
focuses on the development of synthetic methodologies that would allow us
to create molecular scaffolds with multiple stereogenic centers. These
scaffolds will be providing us with opportunities in the areas such as
total synthesis of natural products with interesting biological activity,
pharmacophore mapping and identification of molecular target of these
natural products.
Another area of interest
is to understand the function of proteins of biological significance. By
taking advantage of the recent progress in the field of structure-based
design, we are aiming to discover small molecules that disrupt the
interaction between biomolecules, thus allowing us to gain insight on their
functions. This approach will consist of various components including
computation/molecular modeling, organic synthesis and collaboration with
groups in biology.
