Semantic Social Network (SSNet)

The social computing research program aims to develop models, algorithms, systems and tools to unravel the behaviorial knowledge about online user communities. In this research, an integrated approach drawing expertise from both computing and social science disciplines will be adopted. The program is funded by A*Star. The key members include Prof. Ee-Peng Lim (SMU), Asst Prof. Kuiyu Chang, Asst Prof. Anwitaman Datta.

Understanding and Exploiting the Dynamics of Collaboration Ecosystems

This project aims to to study different collaboration ecosystems like the Wikipedia, to determine different relations among individuals, formation of implicit (besides explicit) subgroups, flow of information in the social network and how individuals and groups evolve and interact over time. This project is funded by HP Labs Innovation Research Award, led by Anwitaman Datta.

Research in Blogosphere and Social Media

This project aims to study novel problems in social media. Some interesting ideas that have been explorated include: blog summarization, classification, and event detection. This project is funded by NTU Research Support Office and School of Computer Engineering.

Text and Web Classification

This project focus on classification tasks involving imbalanced training examples as well as classification of conceptual entites.
