I started my professional career in 1977 with the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and worked for it in various capacities for over 15 years. During my stay with the PARC, I did some pioneering work in the initiation of specialized information services at the national level for various target groups such as researchers, research managers, students, faculty members, entrepreneurs, etc. I have also implemented a USAID sponsored national library strengthening project through which latest information technology was introduced in 17 agricultural libraries in Pakistan.

I have provided consultancy services to many libraries in Pakistan and Malaysia for automating their collections and services. Another area of my interest is continuing professional development and I have conducted many training workshops and courses in Pakistan, Malaysia and Singapore. 

Before joining NTU in 2000, I have taught various masters and doctoral level courses at a Malaysian university for more than eight years. My current research interests include: information needs and information seeking patterns, information management, collection development and management, and school media resource libraries.
