Franklin, C.P. FU is
currently an Assistant Professor at School
of Computer Engineering, Nanyang
Technological University, Singapore.
Before coming to Singapore, he served Shanghai Jiao Tong
University, Shanghai, as a Faculty member at
Networking Center,
where he was ever deeply involved in founding CERNET (China Education &
Research Network). The CERNET was a
national project launched in 1995 to network 1000+ universities in China
by TCP/IP technology. Thereafter, he joined SUN
Microsystems Inc., as a Senior Member of Technical Staff. Since 1998, He was with The
Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong,
and deeply involved in the Area
of Excellence in IT (AoE), where he invented TCP Veno. He is also
Director of 4G Research Lab, Dr Fu received B.Eng., and M.Phil. degrees in Electromagnetism
Theory & Microwave Technology, Ph.D degree in Information Engineering,
respectively in 1990, 1995, 2001. Dr FU has been a two-year TV news reporter
after graduation in 1990. He is IEEE Senior Member now.
He centers his recent research efforts
around networking area, from network protocol to architecture design
(especially on trust communications), from mobile Internet to next generation
communication, from web mining to software engineering (distributed object design,
pattern design), from
middle boxes (i.e.,
NAT, Firewall, IPSec, SOCKs) to middleware (J2EE, J2ME). Ongoing research areas are showed at here.
