Education
Dr Sylvie Castagne received her PhD in
Applied Sciences from the University of Liege,
Belgium. She also earned an MSc in Applied Physics Engineering and a DEA in
Applied Sciences, which encompass a broad range of physics, materials and
engineering areas.
Academic Profile
Before joining NTU, Sylvie worked in
Singapore as a Senior Research Engineer at SIMTech (Singapore Institute of
Manufacturing Technology) and as an Assistant Professor at the University of New South Wales Asia.
She also acquired some experience in Aerospace Engineering through her work at
the Centre of Excellence for Integrated
Aircraft Technology (Queen’s University Belfast, UK, 2003-2006) and spent
five years working as a Researcher in the Department of Mechanics of
Structures and Materials (University of Liege, Belgium, 1998-2003), where
her research focused on the modeling of metal forming processes and on the
development of multi-scale finite element models for the analysis of damage and
crack propagation in metals at high temperature.
