Prospective interns, please,
please read these DOs and DONTs before (not)
emailing me. I receive such emails at a level higher than any other spam, and
this also jeopardizes genuine students' chances of their emails being read! For
obvious reasons, I have stopped replying to most of these emails, and so if
you do not get a reply, that means the answer is
"No" and kindly don't email me back.
- You are in your 2nd year of study.
- Please do not email me. You have
much more to learn before you can contribute anything meaningfully
unless you are exceptionally good.
- If you (think you) are exceptionally good, ask one of your
references/profs to write to me recommending you.
- The clauses below for penultimate/final year students still hold.
- You are in your penultimate/final year.
- I still don't generally have much money to have interns come over,
so if you wish to self-sponsor (a
substantial part of) your internship, we can discuss!
- Unless if I advertise any "currently
open" internship position (below).
- If you want to work on a project remotely, being co-supervised by a
local faculty member, we can again discuss the possibility, but in that
case make sure first that your local supervisor is genuinely interested
too.
- Please make sure your interests really match
mine. Or at least pretend so! For example, I am not doing bio-image
processing or VLSI or ... (no offence for those who actually are working in
these great topics!)
- That is to say, do not copy paste your bulk email with
"research interest" in all topics you apparently know names of (and I
sometimes don't know anymore than just the names)!!!
It is ok to know much fewer things when you are an undergrad student, as
long as you know well whatever you know.
- Do include your JEE rank if you wish but refrain from the ego trip of
explaining to me what is JEE and what your rank means. If you have checked
my webpage you should know that I know!
- I am also completely uninterested in your extra-curricular
activities.
