6. Research Analysts (2 positions available)

The Energy Research Institute (ERI@N) invites applications from qualified candidates to join its rapidly growing team and contribute to a unique work programme that will produce technology roadmaps in the renewable energy sector for Singapore. Our analysts will provide data analysis support and knowledge networking services for the programme, using their cross-sector knowledge to localise global trends and drivers of change to the Singapore context.

Ideal candidates will be recent Masters' graduates with excellent data analysis and information management skills, who are conversant in energy technology issues and can master the tools and techniques to rapidly localise global R&D issues and information from an array of public-domain and primary sources.

Training in an engineering discipline and/or technology policy is essential, with domain knowledge outside of the discipline an advantage. This knowledge may have been gained through practical experience in industry (e.g. an internship or assignment), work with government agency/ies or additional personal study undertaken to extend and apply the training. An understanding of relational databases and information management concepts is an advantage.

Our analysts will work as part of the ERI@N team providing support and research synthesis products for the road-mapping team.

Successful candidates will:

  • demonstrate independent research skills and be able to organise their own work within the framework of the programme;
  • proven ability to synthesise concepts from research in technology and engineering disciplines, for non-academic audience(s);
  • have excellent oral and written communication skills and proven ability to interact effectively with a multidisciplinary team;
  • use their research skills to collect and organise information from published research, grey literature and interviews with primary sources;
  • utilise their domain knowledge and information management skills to set up a shared knowledge-base for the project.

The appointment is for 12 months and there will be regular opportunities to contribute skills and knowledge to other areas of ERI@N. In return for their valuable contributions to our unique work programme, our analysts can expect regular opportunities to extend and build upon their skills through formal training, tasking and hands-on experience with data collection from primary sources (e.g. interviews), plus opportunities for networking in the renewable energy sector.

Electronic submission of applications is encouraged. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.

Closing date for applications: 15 July 2011.
