Halloween Party 2010

A grand IEM event, the Halloween Party, 2010, brought together all the IEMies under one roof on the 15th of October, at SAC.

The event began with the dialogue session at 5:30 pm in the meeting room at level 1, in which IEM students discussed about their experiences in IEM and their passion towards the core courses. This session chaired by Professor Andy Khong Wai Hoong ended at 6:15pm.

Next was dinner and voting session for the IEM Design competition. It exhibited a wide variety of t-shirts and caps designed exclusively by IEM freshmen for all the IEM students. 6:15 – 7:15pm was the time when interaction took place among students and professors, along with dinner. Professors Koh Soo Ngee, Gwee Bah Hwee, Chang Chip Hong, Teh Kah Chan, Chua Hock Chuan and other IEM advisors also graced the event.

At 7:15pm, the actual party began with the breaking of the Pinata by Prof Koh, Prof Chua and IEM student Dustin, the Vice-President (Communication) of EEE Club.

After the inauguration, the performances began. Zhang Shu, a freshman in IEM, initiated the performance night with a wonderful dance on Korean Pop Music. Next, Cai Bao Ou sang the song, “Xiao Jiuwo. The finale of performances was a sing-along led by year 2 student Lusha.

Between the performances, the emcees Thomas, Wen Xin and Hafiz Halim brilliantly interacted with the audience by organizing various stage games like Scavenger Hunt. The best dressed competition was also held. Kai Wen and Jian Yun, the Pumpkin Head and the Scary Face, were chosen as the best dressed couple.

After the performances and stage games, the results of the IEM design competition were announced. The prize for best t-shirt was awarded to Ye Jing and that for the best cap was awarded to Liu Tong. Next was the unveiling of the IEM yearbook 2009-10 by Prof Koh and year 3 student Miao Ling.

At 8:15pm, after the stage performances, several indoor games were held. A fabulous evening ended with Kai Wen’s birthday celebration.

Towards the end, the in-charge of the party, William Wang Jingyuan said, “It was a headache organizing such a grand party, but now, it feels like all the trouble we went through, was worth the fun we had today. I want to send special thanks to my assistants, programmers and logistics for helping me arrange such a magnificent event.”
