1. SELECTION OF PROJECTS

1.1. When can I select a FYP project?

Eligible candidates can select EEE FYP projects twice per academic year. For the main FYP batch (or Semester 1 batch), the selection is at the end of Semester 2 after the examinations (usually around the beginning of May). For the small FYP batch (or Semester 2 batch), the selection is at the end of Semester 1 after the examinations (usually around the beginning of December).

1.2. How do I know if I am eligible to select a FYP project?

The  pre-requisites for EEE FYP can be found at www.eee.ntu.edu.sg/CurrentStudents/Undergraduate/BEngFullTime/Pages/FYP.aspx If you are an eligible candidate, an invitation email for project selection will be sent to you prior to the selection of FYP.

1.3. If I wish to start FYP from the second semester of my third year of study, will there be a list of projects that I can select from?

Yes, if you meet the pre-requisites for EEE FYP (see also 1.1 and 1.2)

2. ALLOCATION OF PROJECTS

For enquiries on FYP project allocation, please contact Prof Wang Youyi.

2.1. How are FYP projects allocated?

Two methods are used for the FYP project allocation, one after the other. The first method (used during Phase 1, see 2.2 below) is defined as pick-and-pull-by-supervisor and the second method (used during Phase 2, see 2.2 below) is the pick-random-minimized one (each student can select up to 10 projects). For more details, please refer to the Student Guidelines Section 1.4.

2.2. When can I know the FYP project be allocated to me?

The project allocation procedure consists of two phases. Phase 1 (project allocation by supervisor) is around 2 weeks and phase 2 (project selection by students) is around 1 week. A confirmation email will be sent to the students once the project has been allocated by supervisor (after Phase 1) or allocated by the computer program (one week after Phase 2).

3. FYP PROJECTS

3.1. What is expected of me in doing an FYP?

The general expectations of EEE FYP can be found in Student Guidelines.

3.2. Where can I find the schedule for my FYP?

A general FYP schedule is provided at the end of the Student Guidelines. For the specific schedule of your batch, please refer to the FYP website www.ntu.edu.sg/eee/fyp

3.3. Can I change project title or summary during the FYP period?

Yes. Main supervisor can do so on-line at the Stafflink but changes cannot be made after the FYP Committee has called for selection of projects for examination (around week 8 of the second semester of the FYP project). After the main supervisor has submitted the changes, the system will automatically send a notification email to the main supervisor, the co-supervisor (if any) and the student of the affected project.

4. FINAL REPORTS

4.1. How do I know who is my examiner?

The examiner list will be released around week 11 of the second semester of the project. Announcement will be posted on the EEE FYP website and an email will be sent to you, please check your emails regularly.

4.2. Can I submit the final report for examination in soft copy?

Yes, by default an FYP final report should be submitted in softcopy (a pdf file) to the supervisor(s)/examiner unless the supervisor(s)/examiner requests the student to submit the final report in hardcopy (double sided, ring bound) at least 3 days in advance.

4.3. What is the procedure of submitting the final report after the oral presentation?

All students need to submit a softcopy of the full final reports to NTU Library after the oral presentation. To enable the student to revise the final report when required, it is important that supervisor(s) and the examiner give comments/suggestion, if any, to the student immediately after the oral presentation. If there is a change in the final report after the oral presentation, the student needs to revise the final report first before submission to Library. If the main supervisor requests, the student needs to submit a softcopy (a pdf file) or hardcopy (double sided, ring bound or hard-cover bound) of the final report (if no revision is required) or the revised final report to the main supervisor, depending on his/her request.

4.4. If my final report contains some confidential data/information, can I just submit an abstract to the library?

YES, please first discuss with your supervisor(s) who will then email to Ms Hau Wai Ping

5. ORAL PRESENTATION

For enquiries on FYP oral presentation, please contact A/Prof Huang Guanbin

5.1. I have some other commitment on the scheduled date of the Oral Presentation, what should I do?

Oral presentation is COMPULSARY. If you have valid reasons or an official leave during the oral presentation period, you must contact your supervisor(s) and examiner well before the oral presentation. You should arrange the oral presentation earlier (NOT later) than the scheduled date. Once the arrangements are agreed by all the affected parties in your project, i.e., supervisor(s), examiner and student, kindly email A/Prof Huang Guangbin (cc to Ms Hau Wai Ping). This also applies to supervisors or examiners who will not be able to attend the oral presentation on the scheduled date, such as going overseas for official duties etc.

5.2. When will I know the schedule (date/time/venue) of the Oral Presentation?

Around week 13 of the second semester of the project, the FYP committee will post the announcements on the FYP website (www.ntu.edu.sg/eee/fyp) and will send an email to all the students, supervisors and examiners involved. Please check the FYP website and read your email regularly for any update
