Biography

Dr. Wong obtained his BA (First Class) and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from Cambridge University in 1987 and 1992 respectively. His thesis research was concerned with nanofabrication using high voltage e-beam lithography. After two years of teaching in Hong Kong, he joined EEE in 1994. He has initiated several undergraduate and graduate courses in microelectronics. He has been principal investigator for four funded projects and has published extensively in international journals and conferences. In addition, he has one book chapter pending publication in late 2006. He is a senior member of the IEEE, Chartered physicist of the Institute of Physics. Professional services include acting as reviewer for Thin Solid Films, Synthetic Metals and chapter secretary of the Society for Information Display.

Research Interest

  • Organic electronics and optoelectronics: photovoltaic device, organic light emitting diodes, device physics and applications.
  • Silicon nanoelectronics: strained silicon materials and SiGe heterostructure devices.
  • Interconnects: copper interconnects and ultra low-k dielectrics, materials synthesis and deposition, advanced characterization, simulation and characterization of interconnect performance and reliability.
