Biography

Dr. Lu Yilong received the BEng degree from Harbin Institute of Technology, the MEng degree from Tsinghua University, and the PhD degree from University College London (UCL) in 1982, 1984 and 1991, respectively. All degrees are in electronic engineering. From 1984 to 1988, he was a lecturer in the Department of Electromagnetic Fields Engineering, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. He joined the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) as a Lecturer in 1991. He is currently a Professor in the Communication Engineering Division. He was a Visiting Scientist at University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA) from October 1998 to June 1999.

Dr. Lu is the leader of the Radar Research Program, program director of Computational Electromagnetics Program, the coordinator of the Microwave Circuits, Antennas and Propagation research group. He also serves as the supervisor of Communication Laboratory I and Communication Research Laboratory.

Dr Lu's major research interests are in radar, antennas, electromagnetics and evolutional computation. He has authored/co-authored 1 monograph, 5 book chapters, and more than 170 journal and conference papers in his research areas. He has been the Principal Investigator of more than 10 research projects. He has taught a few undergraduate and postgraduate subjects, including RF & Microwave Engineering, Radar Engineering, Antenna Design, and Receiver Design.

Dr. Lu is a member of IEEE and a Faculty Associate of The Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC), Singapore.

Research Interests

Radar systems, antennas, passive microwave/optoelectronic devices, array based signal processing, computational electromagnetics, and evolutionary computation.
