Staff members in the Division are actively participating in the following research areas:

    Multimedia Signal Processing
    Signal Processing for Communications
    Bio-Signal Processing
    Signal Classification and Pattern Recognition
    Information Security

Most of our MEng and PhD students are focused on their research work in these research areas. Our staff members are also closely affiliated with the Centre for Signal Processing (CSP) and Centre for Information Security. Research projects are mainly sponsored by both local companies and multinational companies, iDA and ASTAR, or by the University's own research fund, AcRF. In addition, formal research agreements have been entered with, Siemens, Singapore Telecom, Defence Science Organisation (DSO), and some overseas universities for the joint investigations and/or funding of a number of research projects. The main thrust is directed towards the applications of the rapidly developing areas of computer and information technologies and signal processing to the solutions of practical engineering problems.
