Biography

Dr. Foo Say Wei received the B.Eng. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Newcastle, Australia in 1972, the M.Sc. degree in industrial and systems engineering from the University of Singapore in 1979, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Imperial College, University of London in 1983. He also holds a postgraduate diploma in Business Administration and a certified diploma in Accountancy and Finance. From 1973 to 1992, he worked in the Electronics Division of the Defense Science Organization, Singapore, where he conducted research and carried out development work on speech related equipment. From 1992 to 2001, he was the Associate Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National University of Singapore. In 2002, he joined the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University.
He has served in various capacities in the Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES) and is the President of the IES from 2004-2006. He is also a board member of the Professional Engineers Board ( Singapore) and a member of the Asean Academy of Engineering and Technology.
He has also served in various capacities in the Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Singapore section including the chairmanship of Engineering Management Chapter. He is currently a member of the Digital Signal Processing Technical Committee of IEEE Circuits and Systems Society.
