Research @ Division of Power Engineering
The Division of Power Engineering is constantly transforming and adapting itself to stay foremost
in power and energy research. Our professors actively contribute in influencing global and national
research trends particularly in areas such as global warming, environmental impact and climate
change, renewable energy systems, distributed power generation, and energy efficiency.
Our research activities reflect the emerging technologies in power and energy while continuing
to maintain our traditional core strengths in power systems and power electronics. The Division
is well funded in projects in efficient solar energy based systems for water production,
intelligent energy distribution systems, and energy storage systems. Its research laboratories
and its Centre for Smart Energy Systems house state-of-the-art facilities and R&D activities,
many of which are also affiliated to the University-level Energy Research Institute @ Nanyang (ERIAN).
The current strategic research areas of the Division are:
- Clean and Renewable Energy Systems
- Efficient Energy Conversion and Utilization
- Power Systems and Power Electronics
