Introduction

Analysis of discontinuous deformation is one of the major issues in rock mechanics and rock engineering. In the past two decades, a variety of efforts have been contributed to develop analytical, numerical and experimental methods in analyzing discontinuous deformation and understanding the behavior of discontinuities in rock mass.

The series of biannual conference aims to exchange ideas and new developments in various analysis methods on discontinuous deformation. It also promotes the developed methods to be applied in rock engineering, including but not limited in stability analysis of rock slope, storage caverns, tunnels, and underground power stations; stress wave propagation in rock mass; rock support design; failure of heterogeneous rock materials; mining technology, etc. The 9th event has been decided to be held in the "Garden Campus" of Nanyang Technological University, "Garden Country" Singapore.

The local organizing committee would like to warmly welcome colleagues in relevant areas to participant and support the conference. The committee commits to provide excellent service to the conference and make it a valuable and enjoyable event to all the participants.
