Creative Posters and Invitations for Marketing (SFC) 

Introduction

This course is designed to introduce the creative concepts and strategies involved in designing posters, invitations, brochures, signage, packaging, vehicle design and many other types of collateral in marketing. Participants will learn how to evaluate effective visual images based on the design fundamentals. They will also have the opportunity to apply what they learned to design posters, invitations and many other types of collateral that can communicate and market with impact. 

Objectives

• To understand the creative concepts and strategies involved in designing posters, invitations, brochures, signage, packaging, vehicle design and other types of collateral for marketing.

• To introduce design basics as fundamentals to effective visual communication.

• Apply and evaluate effective posters, invitations, brochures, signage, packaging, vehicle design and other types of collateral that can communicate and market with impact.
 

Outline

• Understand the purpose of posters, invitations, brochures, signage, packaging, vehicle design and other types of collaterals in marketing.

• Understand how creative strategies can be employed in the images and copy writing to capture viewers’ attention and draw them to take action.

• Understand design with a purpose and a message for an intended target audience.

• Understand effective visual communication using design elements and principles as fundamentals.

• Hands-on designs by participants in small groups to apply what they learned and to be presented and evaluated.  

Trainer(s)

Mdm Poo, Peggy Siu Kay

Peggy Poo-Pun Siu Kay holds a BA degree with Honours and High Distinction in Design from University of Illinois, Chicago, USA and a MA Degree in Communication Arts from University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. She started her career as a graphic designer in New York City. She later spent twelve years as senior TV Producer/Director and later as Executive Producer at Singapore Broadcasting Corporation. She has more than ten years of teaching experience in design and moving images and is presently a Lecturer at the School of Art, Design and Media, Nanyang Technological University. Courses she conducted include “Aesthetic and Creative Use of the 2D Media”; “Creative Design in Communication and Marketing”; “Aesthetic and Creative Techniques in the Moving Images”; and “Creative Thinking in Design Solutions”. Her research papers and interests focus on visual literacy, visual language, visual communication, creative thinking in design and collaborative learning. Her paper “Inculcating Visual Literacy to Meet the Professional Needs of Engineering Undergraduates” won her the Silver Award for Best Paper.

Those who have just embarked on their careers in media, advertising, public relations, corporate communication and graphic design; anyone who needs to design posters, invitations, brochures, signage, packaging, vehicle design and other types of collateral for their companies; and anyone whose duty requires one to evaluate the effectiveness of the designs to communicate and to market with impact.

Replacement Policy

Given a 3 days notice before course commencement, companies may replace participants who have signed up for the course. Terms and conditions apply.

 

There is no replacement for participant utilising SkillsFuture Credit. Participant to cancel their SkillsFuture Credit claim with WDA.
