ICPLUS

Integrated Circuit ProfessionaL Upgrading Series (IC-PLUS)Discount

IC-PLUS, one of the PMEs’ initiatives under Skills Training for Excellence Programme (STEP), encompass a series of Integrated Circuit (IC) Professional Development Programmes (PDP); aiming to enable Professionals, Managerial and Executives (PMEs) in acquiring the latest IC technology knowledge, trends and tools to enhance and deepen their existing capabilities.

In collaboration with VIRTUS (Latin for Excellence) IC Design Centre of Excellence, NTU-CCE proposed a series of Integrated Circuit (IC) PDP in the areas such as, analog IC design, signal integrity and IC packaging. Due to the rapid advancement in IC design, these courses are intended to cover not only the fundamental principles and theories, but also the current industrial practices. It is an avenue for participants to raise current industrial issues for active discussions.

WDA IC-PLUS: Analog IC Design

27 Feb to 02 March 2012

Standard Fee: S$1690.60 (inclusive of GST)

Fee After Subsidy: S$845.30 (inclusive of GST)

This course focuses on basic analog integrated circuit design. It includes design and analysis of basic analog functional module designs such as current mirrors, active load, biasing circuits, voltage reference and operational amplifiers. This course exposes participants to fundamentals of semiconductor processing, characteristics and implementation of passive and active components, including electrical modeling and SPICE simulation techniques. In the hands-on sessions, the participants will learn to design analog circuits based on a given specifications. Through hands-on calculation and extensive simulations, they will design the analog block.

WDA IC-PLUS: IC Packaging

27 Feb to 02 March 2012
7 May to 11 May 2012

Standard Fee: S$1690.60 (inclusive of GST)

Fee After Subsidy: S$845.30 (inclusive of GST)

This course aims to provide a deep understanding of the fundamental principles underlying the core technology of integrated circuit (IC) packaging for participants, and build-up their ability in IC packaging design, materials, thermal management, fabrication and characterization.

Participants are expected to have a good knowledge on the fundamental theories, design, simulation, fabrication processes and possible failure mechanisms relating to IC packaging for different applications and be motivated to apply IC packaging design, innovation and failure analysis methods to applications of their own interests and relate to their own individual research and development areas.

WDA IC-PLUS: RF Integrated Circuit Design

27 Feb to 02 March 2012

Standard Fee: S$1690.60 (inclusive of GST)

Fee After Subsidy: S$845.30 (inclusive of GST)

The course deals with the analysis and design of RF integrated circuits, RF IC modeling, and provides a systematic view on RF ICs. The course will handle the architectures and also emphasizes circuit level designs with respect to CMOS VLSI technologies. At the completion of the subject, participants should be able to appreciate the system considerations and the circuit behaviours, understand the methodologies for the design and modeling of RF integrated circuits, understand the design considerations of RF integrated circuits and hence capable of analysing and synthesising new RF architectures based on the concept learned in the course, and understand the effects of the parasitic parameters introduced from layout of a block of CMOS circuit.

WDA IC-PLUS: Signal Integrity in High Speed Digital Systems

Standard Fee: S$1690.60 (inclusive of GST)

Fee After Subsidy: S$845.30 (inclusive of GST)

The subject covers analog behaviour of digital system under high-speed operation. The focus is restricted to the interconnects, drivers and receivers only. This course aims to provide knowledge on the following important topics:

  • Introduction to modeling and characterization of output buffers and receivers for analysis and design of digital system under high-speed operation.

  • Introduction to modeling of interconnects including model reduction techniques, in PCB as well as in integrated circuits.

  • Analysis of transmission lines and termination.

  • Introduction to signal integrity issues due to non-ideal interconnects and buffers, timing, clock distributions and power distribution network fluctuation.

WDA IC-PLUS: Verilog HDL for Digital System Design

Standard Fee: S$1690.60 (inclusive of GST)

Fee After Subsidy: S$845.30 (inclusive of GST)

This course covers the use of Verilog HDL in high-level synthesis of digital system designs. The language Verilog HDL as well as how it is used for describing, modeling, simulating and synthesizing various digital modules will be addressed. Verilog HDL coding and synthesis issues on combinational and sequential modules including Finite State Machine will be discussed. In the hands-on sessions, the participants will not only learn the language through hands-on coding, synthesis and simulation of some practical designs, but they will also synthesize and test the designs with industrial software packages and FPGA devices.
