This practical workshop focuses on the writing skills needed by technical professionals to create documents which are easy to read, communicate information clearly, accurately, and concisely. It teaches a strategic approach to writing through analysis of the writing situation to determine how information is to be selected and organized to suit a particular audience, purpose, and situation.

2. Designing and Delivering Effective Technical Presentations

This course is specifically designed for people who have to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Participants will learn how to make information come alive, and to deliver dynamic, persuasive presentations with ease.

At the end of the Effective Technical Presentation Skills course, participants should be able to quickly organize and present technical facts, ideas and recommendations to other technical professionals, non-technical managers and decision-makers in a clear, convincing, and understandable way.

3. Practical Business Finance for Non-Financial Executives

A basic knowledge of business and corporate finance is essential for any non-financial management and professionals to function effectively in his/her current capacity. The ability to understand financial jargons is not only useful as a life skill, but a much needed requirement for non-financial professionals occupying or about to assume a greater leadership role in the organization.

In this program, participants will learn how to determine the financial health of a business. Participants will appreciate the need for allocation of scarce financial resources and tighter financial management so as to obtain the best financial value-add for the company. Participants will learn not only the thoughts that go into building up a financial case for a new capital project, but also learn how to use the various common financial tools to justify for a new capital project. Finally, participants will be introduced to the types of costs and their behaviour, and how these could be used to determine the breakeven of a business, and forecast profitability under various simulated sales volumes.

Through the study of various case studies and scenario based exercises, this course will highlight the importance of communication and some practical techniques for successful operational management of a major incident. 

Participants will become familiar with the communication challenges that crisis situations present and the techniques that will help them communicate effectively. They will learn to create an action plan and be able to adopt a more proactive approach to dealing with major incidents.

Criteria for e2i Funding
To be eligible, participant:
- must be a Singaporean or a Permanent Resident of Singapore
- achieve minimum 75% attendance per run

* Participants who do not fulfill the above criteria are not eligible for e2i funding, and are required to pay the course fee in full. Limited slots for funding. Participants will be given course subsidy on first come first served basis.
Union members may also apply for UTAP to offset the course fee.
