This practical workshop focuses on the writing skills needed by technical professionals to create documents which are easy to read, communicate information clearly, accurately, and concisely. A basic knowledge of business and corporate finance is essential for any non-financial management and professionals to function effectively in his/her current capacity. The ability to understand financial jargons is not only useful as a life skill, but a much needed requirement for non-financial professionals occupying or about to assume a greater leadership role in the organization.

In this program, participants will learn how to determine the financial health of a business. Participants will appreciate the need for allocation of scarce financial resources and tighter financial management so as to obtain the best financial value-add for the company. Participants will learn not only the thoughts that go into building up a financial case for a new capital project, but also learn how to use the various common financial tools to justify for a new capital project. Finally, participants will be introduced to the types of costs and their behaviour, and how these could be used to determine the breakeven of a business, and forecast profitability under various simulated sales volumes.

There is a growing trend amongst companies using analytics to identify gaps, trends and benchmark their business with others. Companies spend billions of dollars annually on business intelligence tools for the simple reason that it drives the top and bottom line. According to Gartner, business intelligence has been the number one technology for the past three years running and surveys have shown that it is the second most important “application and technology issue” after anti-virus protection.

However, deriving insights from data analytics is NOT the domain of large companies. Even small companies (SMEs) and start-ups can benefit from it. Data Analytics is NOT just about IT solutions and tools; rather it is a methodology and process that is independent of IT. In this interconnected world, interpersonal skills are becoming the indispensable competence for workplace leaders. And there can be no interpersonal skills without EQ. Knowing one’s own emotions and regulating them, recognising emotions in others and controlling them are key dimensions of EQ.

- must be a Singaporean or a Permanent Resident of Singapore
- achieve minimum 75% attendance per run

* Participants who do not fulfill the above criteria are not eligible for e2i funding, and are required to pay the course fee in full. Limited slots for funding. Participants will be given course subsidy on first come first served basis.
Union members may also apply for UTAP to offset the course fee.
