Registration Instructions for ADM Students in Year One, Two, Three and Four Students

Year One Registration
All ADM Year One students will be automatically enrolled in the following Foundation courses in Semester 2. FDN 112: Foundation Drawing II FDN 122: 2D Design and Colour Workshop II FDN 132: 3D Design and Volume Workshop II FDN 142: 4D Design and Time Workshop II ADM 132: Western Art History II.

During Semester 1, all Year One students are automatically enrolled in to GER Core Communcations Skills - HL814 Sympathy for the Devil: On Reading, Literature and Art.

During Semester 2, all Year One students are encouraged to take one course from the GER Core Communcations Skills courses. Students may also select from the GER Prescribed Electives to satisfy the GER requirements of the degree.

Year Two, Three and Four Students
Beginning Year 2008/2009 Semester 2, All ADM Year 2, 3 and 4 Students will register for courses in Core and Prescribed Electives in Using STARS. The registration period will be per university-designated times and will follow the standard university process and procedures. All Core Compulsory Courses in each ADM Majors will have places blocked for Major students to enroll. Each Major area has a certain number of students who have elected this Major concentration. These students in each Major are assured a place in the Core Compulsory Courses Major courses.

Each course will be capped a number of places that can ne accommodated by the teacher and the facilities.

After Major students enroll, if there are open places in the courses, these places are open to any ADM student to enroll as a Prescribed Elective.

PLEASE NOTE, Any student in ADM may enroll in any course offered, (Major or Prescribed Studio Elective) as a Prescribed Elective and satisfy the degree requirements.

For Prescribed Electives offered by each major area, these courses are open to ANY student from ANY major to enroll. The process for enrolling will follow the standard university process. In NTU, a student in Year Four is allowed access to elective courses first, followed by Year Three, and Year Two. This ensures that students closer to graduation may enroll in the courses necessary to allow them to complete the BFA Degree requirements in 4 years.

Certain exceptions may be made if there is reason to allow a student enroll above the capped number of students. The School will attempt to help students to enroll in the courses needed whenever possible to ensure the each student is able to graduate in 4 years. For special cases, please see the Associate Chair Academic or the Academic Manager.
