The NTU School of Art, Design & Media opened in 2004 and took the first cohort of students in 2005. The school was formed in line with the strategic goal of fostering a creative industry and centre as new design practice in Singapore.
The school has a faculty drawn from a broad international pool of artists, designers, animators, and filmmakers. The faculty is selected for their expertise in their respective fields and their dedication to the teaching in their areas.
The school curriculum is developed around Interdisciplinary learning in Design & Media and offers majors in - Visual Communication; Product Design, Interactive Media; Digital Filmmaking; Digital Photography and Imaging; Emotive Robotics and Digital Animation. Students are encouraged to explore and inter-disciplinary experience across multiple domains even in connection with engineering disciplines. Students can take up academic minors in all schools. Some popular options are Communication; Drama & Performance; English Literature; History; Chinese Language & Culture; Business; Environmental Management; Computer Engineering among others.
ADM students are challenged to think in new ways about how to formulate and communicate significant strategic messages and to create the new narratives that will form the basis of the new entertainment forms. In Design practice, ADM students explore the form and function of objects, products and interactive experiences. Each programme maintains an intellectual and scholarship focus to balance the "hands-on" studio practice.
Students work in the immediacy of a concentrated studio practice - in a directed problem solving method. Using "design thinking" process students define, research, ideate, prototype, choose, implement, and learn. The approach fosters a maximum of input and participation and eliminates the fear of failure and leads to creative and effective designed solutions.
Students are encouraged to undertake a professional internship where students gain first-hand industry training and experience under the supervision of professors and industry practitioners. Students can take advantage of NTU's Global Immersion Programme. Successful students can spend up to six months at leading overseas universities in top Design and Media schools in the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, China, India and more.

We aspire to educate leaders, thinkers, researchers and creative visionaries who embrace innovation, exploration, experimentation, advancement of knowledge and new production ventures in a range of design and media fields.
The NTU School of Art, Design and Media works to transform Singapore into a global media city by empowering artistic, creative, and innovative minds to explore ground-breaking art, design, and media. We seek to promote Singapore’s creative culture and identity while providing a unique setting for research, studio practice and scholarship.
