Invitation for Participation
The workshop is aimed at bringing together top researchers, practitioners, and students from around the world to discuss applications of pattern recognition methods in the field of bioinformatics to solve problems in life sciences
The workshop will feature four keynotes. There will be two parallel sessions of oral presentations and one poster session on each day of the workshop. Pattern recognition techniques to be discussed include: statistical, syntactic and structural approaches, neural networks, fuzzy techniques, genetic algorithms, Bayesian models and networks, data mining techniques, and their hybrids. The presentations at the workshop will be on but not limited to the following applications in bioinformatics:
• bio-sequence
analysis
• gene and protein expression analysis
• protein structure and interaction prediction
• signal and motifs detection
• systems biology, pathway analysis
• medical informatics
• bio-imaging
The participants will receive the PRIB 2007 Proceedings as a volume in the Lecture Notes in Bioinformatics by Springer and Supplementary Proceedings including the papers presented as posters. A Special Issue of IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Magazine, including selected papers presented at the workshop will appear in early 2008. Awards will be presented to the Best Student Paper and the Best Overall Paper. Selected student authors will receive PRIB 2007 Student Awards. A limited number of PRIB 2007 Travel Awards will be presented to overseas students.
