Entry Categories – There are
three entry categories as follows:
University Category – For tertiary
students currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at a
university
Polytechnic Category – For tertiary
students currently enrolled in a diploma program at a polytechnic
Open Category – Open to all,
including university postgraduates, researchers, academics, and
practitioners (excluding employees of telco
operators)
Note: Group entries are permitted
for all entry categories.
Free Registration - Potential
competition participants are required to register the following
information via email to nnoriel@gmail.com
:
(1) Full Name, (2) Occupation, (3)
Company/Institution, (4) Postal Address, (5) Telephone Number
(including country/area codes), (6) Email Address, (7) Entry
Category, and (8) whether or not entrant is willing to let organizers
publish their submitted write-up in any form (YES/NO)
Those applying under the University
and Polytechnic entry categories are required to supply a valid email
address from their respective educational institution.
For group entries, please note that
registration and contact information will need to be submitted for
all members of your team.
Upon successful registration, the
dataset will be emailed to the entrant in the form of tab-delimited
text files (will require appending). A data dictionary will also be
provided. Do note that this
dataset is not meant to be made available or redistributed in the
public domain after the competition as requested by the dataset donor.
Submissions
Participants are required to email
to nnoriel@gmail.com a
tab-delimited text file that contains the ID field and their
prediction for the target field “Customer_Type”
(2G/3G) from the holdout sample.
Entrants are also required to email a write-up that includes
the following:
a)
Approach and understanding of the
problem
b)
Full technical details of
algorithm(s) used
c)
Details of the classification model that was
produced
d)
Discussion on what insights can be
gained from their model in terms of identifying current 2G customers
with the potential to switch to 3G (e.g. using false positives?)
Write-ups are to be submitted in
English in either Word or PDF format.
