Welcome to the School of Computer Engineering (SCE)!

A member of the College of Engineering, SCE originated from the School of Applied Science that was established in 1988. Recognising the rapid growth in the information technology arena, SCE was formed in 2000 to offer undergraduate and graduate programmes in computer engineering and computer science.

SCE awards the following degrees:

Undergraduate Programmes (Honours based on merit)
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Engineering)
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science)
  • Double Degree in Business & Computing:
    • Bachelor of Business (Information Technology) awarded by Nanyang Business School
    • Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science)
  • Double Degree in Economics & Computing:
    • Bachelor of Arts in Economics awarded by School of Humanities and Social Sciences
    • Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science/Computer Engineering)
  • Integrated Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science/Computer Engineering) with Georgia Institute of Technology's Master of Science (Computer Science)
    • Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science/Computer Engineering)
    • Master of Science (Computer Science) awarded by Georgia Institute of Technology
Graduate Programmes by Research
  • Master of Engineering
  • Doctor of Philosophy
Graduate Programmes by Coursework
  • Master of Science (Bioinformatics)
  • Master of Science (Digital Media Technology)
  • Master of Science (Embedded Systems)

Since its inception, SCE has grown in size and strength. The school is currently organised into four divisions: Computer Communications, Computer Science, Computing Systems, and Information Systems, with*:

  • 107 faculty staff
  • 165 research staff
  • 70 administrative and non-faculty staff
  • 1,465 undergraduates
  • 637 graduate students

*Statistics as of 30 October, 2009

SCE's strengths lie in constantly maintaining industrial relevance in its training of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as pioneering innovative cutting-edge research. Our academic committee ensures that SCE students undergo professional training and acquire practical skills that are valued by the employers.

In research, SCE has collaborated with numerous local and international organisations, and eminent institutions. The success of these partnerships will inevitably motivate us to continue establishing more of such collaborations.

"Breaking Trails. Setting Tracks." SCE is en route to leading education and research in computer engineering and science. I invite you to explore our website, to know more about our programmes and research activities, to view our staff and student achievements, and discover life at SCE.
