Instruments' Digital Signal Processing Solutions Challenge
US$100000 Grand Prize (May
1996)
The project, "The High Performance
Motion Picture Restoration System", has won the
grand prize of US$100,000 in the Texas Instruments
Digital Signal Processing Solutions Challenge held
in US on 8 May 1996. The NTU team comprised supervisor,
Dr Chong Man Nang and undergraduates Mr Showbhik Kalra
and Mr Dilip Krishnan.
The project is done under the NTU-Cambridge
Collaboration and it beats 230 teams from 26 countries
to reach the finals, held in Atlanta.

Mr
Ng Geok See has been awarded a subject of
biographical record in Whos Who in the
World (13th Edition 1996) by the Marquis Whos
Who Publication Board.

Community Service Awards (Mar
1995)
A Year Two Computer Engineering
student, Teo Chee Kong won this award organised by
the Rotary Club of Singapore.
Chee Kong was commended for his
outstanding service work at the Asian Women's Welfare
Association Ang Mo Kio Community Home for Senior Citizens.
His commitment for the less fortunate was reflected
further in his gesture to donate his share of the
award to the welfare organisation which he was working
with. The award included a cheque of $1,500 for the
welfare organisation and a cash award of $500 for
Chee Kong.
Best
Paper Award on Artificial Intelligence in Education
at the East West International Conference on Computer
Technologies in Education (Sept
1994)
The paper was awarded the best
paper in one of three main streams of conference,
Artifical Intelligence in Education. The two other
main streams are Educational Hypermedia & Multimedia,
and Computer-Aided Language Learning.
