Dinner and Talk

NanyangConnect plans to organize a dinner and speakers to talk on topics connected to rotating themes every quarter.

The themes are:

Nature/Environment,

Beauty/Health,

Finance/Investments,

and Art/Culture.

If you or someone you know would like to organize a talk then please let us know by writing at nanyangconnect@gmail.com

The talk is one hour long, beginning usually at 8 PM.  There might be a small charge for the talk that will cover the rent of the room and the speaker’s taxi, meal, small gift and the organizer’s printing expenses. The detail of the talks and the charges will be sent out as and when the talks are being organized.

For those who like International food and want to join others over dinner can join for a meal at the Staff Club restaurant an hour before the talk.

Past Talks

·         Nature/Environment by Vilma D’Rozario, an associate professor at NIE and senior education officer for Singapore Nature Society.  Vilma talked about wildlife in Singapore at large as well as species we can see and hear on campus.  The question and answer session afterwards was very active as everyone was imitating sounds of the birds they hear in the morning and asking her what animal it is.

Please check out the website of Singapore Nature Society and Vilma’s projects.

·         Art/Culture by Huang Xiaoqing (Cynthia), one of our own from campus, explained Chinese New Year Celebrations with a handout on tips on how to celebrate in Singapore. Liu Ximei (Ms. Lucia), an artist, continued to introduce four traditional Chinese arts and ended with a small exhibition with work from her child and adult students on NTU campus.
