Services and Stores on Campus

There are a host of shops and services on campus – but you have to know where to look for them...read more below!

Most important are the following:

The Post Office can be found within the Nanyang Supermarket (6791 6126) (behind Canteen 2).  It also sells stamps, envelopes and small boxes and tubes for mailing.  Pick up time is at 3PM Monday through Saturday.  The collection box is locked inside the store after the store closes.  The other letter box on campus close to staff housing is by the 199 bus stop across the street from Nanyang Heights.

The unisex Hairdresser (6791 7303) is next to the Nanyang Supermarket (behind Canteen 2). Prices are very reasonable (S$9 for students at beginning of school year, S$12-14 normally)

OCBC Bank (1800 - 438 333) s the only bank to have a branch on campus (behind canteen A), and coincidentally is also the only bank with a branch at Jurong Point.

There are other large banks with branches in Jurong West and many parts of the city.  DBS, POSB, UOB, etc.  Rates vary, so it pays to shop around a little, since ATM terminals and online banking make a visit to the bank infrequent. ATM machines from a variety of banks are dotted around campus.

Need some new gadgets for that computer? The Eight Flags Computer Shop (6793 5911) is situated next to Canteen B, one level below the medical centre.  They tend to have special prices for students and staff at the beginning of the first semester in each year for various models.

There is a branch of Popular bookstores (6790 2978) on Campus (South Spine, Blk S4, #B5A-01, same level as car park Q) which sells textbooks, narrow range of books of leisure catering to students (think cartoons and romance novels) and a wide selection of stationary, wider than Nanyang supermarket.

Running out of milk?  Nanyang Supermarkets (6791 6126) divided into two small stores behind Canteen 2, sell everything from buckets and mops to dry goods, fresh cut fruit and dairy products, stationary and personal hygiene products at reasonable prices.  Open 9-9 Monday through Friday, closes at 5 pm on Saturdays, open noon to 9pm on Sundays, and closed on public holidays.

Medical Facilities
There is a medical centre (6793 6828) at the southwest end of the South spine level B2, which is open to all students and staff.  It is also open to the staff families/dependents at prices comparable to off-campus.  There are four doctors on call and one dentist (6790 8578) (2nd floor in the back).  There is no appointment system – you turn up and join the queue. The University sponsors a basic health screen for all staff for free and other screens and health checks to students, staff and staff families at reduced prices in October every year.

Educational Services

NTU and NIE schools and departments offer various educational services and courses and degrees.  For independent study, some courses of the NTU Continuing Education Centre should be noted.
