~Mr Inderjit Singh 殷吉星先生~
A DYNAMIC TRAILBLAZER
Student leader, founder of large companies, promoter of small and medium businesses, university fund-raiser, Member of Parliament - Mr Inderjit Singh's energy is almost boundless.
As one of Singapore's foremost champions of entrepreneurship, Mr Inderjit started a number of successful businesses such as United Test and Assembly Center, now listed in the Singapore Stock Exchange, and Tri Star Electronics, a global trading and services company. He is currently Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Infiniti Solutions, a global semiconductor manufacturing services company with operations in Silicon Valley, USA, the Philippines and India. Before striking out, Mr Inderjit worked for Texas Instruments Singapore for 13 years where he moved rapidly up the ranks from Engineer to the Director of Worldwide Assembly and Test Operations of the Memory Division.
This achiever is involved in many major initiatives to promote business start-ups. He is currently Deputy Chairman of the Action Crucible of Entrepreneurship (ACE), a national entrepreneurship movement and is also the Chairman of the Finance Action Crucible. Through ACE, Inderjit has helped transform the financing and fund raising landscape for start-ups and SMEs in Singapore. He has been an iconic champion of Entrepreneurship and Enterprises in Singapore. He is the Chairman of the National Trust Council, Deputy Chairman of the National Youth Achievement Award or NYAA, and President of the Singapore Chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE, which is the world's largest movement of entrepreneurs).
Actively involved in politics, Mr. Inderjit has been a Member of Parliament for Ang Mo Kio GRC since 1996. He is now Deputy Government Whip in Parliament and Chairman of the Government Parliamentary Committee for the Ministries of Finance and Trade and Industry.
Despite his amazing number of public commitments, Mr Inderjit still finds time for his alma mater, Nanyang Technological University, of which he has been council member since 2001 and is now a Board of Trustee member upon the University's autonomy in 2006. He has also been serving in a number of standing committees. In addition, he spearheaded the Class of '85 Pioneer Fund to raise funds for the University.
Mr Inderjit received his Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronics) in 1985, and an MBA from the University of Strathclyde, UK in 1991. At the then Nanyang Technological Institute, he helped start many students' organisations. He was the first chairman of its Students' Union Council and founder of the EEE Club. He was also the first protem Chairman and the Honorary General Secretary in the early years of the NTI Alumni Association, now the NTUAC. He served as the President of the EEE Alumni Association till 2005.
