Using CD-Rom

Do I need to format my CD-R or CD-RW before using?

If you are using a blank recordable CD (CD-R) or a re-writable CD (CD-RW), you do not need to format your CD. You can use it immediately.

How to create data CD or audio CD with my CD-R or CD-RW?

Creating data CDs

Note:
Compaq Pentium 4 (black casing)Select Start/ Programs/ ahead Nero/ Nero-burning Rom. A window as follows will appear. Click the “next” button to continue.

Select the “Compile a new CD” option and click “next”.

Choose the type of CD (Data CD) to be compiled and click “Next”

Choose “Create a new data CD” and click “Next”.

Click “Finish” to start selecting the files to be copied onto the CD.

Click on the files to be copied into the CD from the file browser, drag it and drop in the “ISO1” window on the left.

After you are done, click on the eighth button (circled in red) from the left.

Click “burn” to start burning process.

Click “OK” to finish the burning process.

Choose to save, print or discard the information regarding the new files burned on the CD.

Choose “Create a new data CD” and click “Next”.

Creating Audio CDs:


Insert a blank CD into the CD writer drive. Click Start/ All programs/ Ahead Nero/ Nero-Burning Rom. The following window will appear. Select “CD” and click “Next”.

Select “Compile a new CD” and proceed by clicking “Next”.

Click “Finish” after reading the instructions to continue.

Select the audio files to be copied on the CD from the file browser (on the right), drag them and drop them into the “Audio1” window on the right.

After doing so, click on the eighth icon from the left (circled in red) to proceed.

  1. Select the option “Burn” and then click on the “Burn” button to starting the writing process.

  2. Click “OK” to finish the process and choose to either save or discard the information regarding the files written to the CD.

  1. Click Start/ All Programs/ Nero/ Nero StartSmart.


  2. Place the cursor over the second symbol from the left (circled in green) and click on “Make Data disc” (circled in red).


  3. To create an audio CD, click on “Audio” (third symbol from the left circled in red) and then click on “Make Audio CD” (circled in red).


  4. The following window will then appear. Click on the “Add” button (circled in red) to start selecting the files to be copied onto the CD.

  5. Select the files to be added and click “Add” to add the files to the list of documents to be copied onto the CD. After you are done, click “Finished” (circled in red).
  6. Click “Next” (circled in red) to continue.
  7. You can opt to change the name of the CD (area circled in black). Click “Burn” (circled in red) to start the burning process.


  8. This window indicates that the data is successfully saved on the CD. Click “OK” (circled in red).



  9. Click “Next” to continue.
  10. To end, click “Exit”.
  11. You can choose to save or discard the changes made to the CD.
Acer Veriton 7700GX (black casing):
Creating data/audio CDs
  1. Click Start/ All Programs/ NTI CD & DVD-Maker/ NTI CD & DVD-Maker Gold. Select the type of CD/ DVD to be compiled.
  2. The following screen will appear. Click, drag and drop the documents/audio tracks to be copied onto the CD from windows explorer (top) to the data track layout / audio track layout (bottom).
  3. Change the option at the bottom of the screen to the second option.
  4. After you are done, click “write disc” (button circled in red).
  5. This screen will then appear. Select “Write” then click “Start” to start the burning process.
  6. he data is successfully saved onto the CD when this screen appears.
How to add more files to CD if I had created it with other CD-writable software?
If you have created your CD-R or CD-RW in other CD-writable softwares such as Adaptec Easy CD Creator, Adaptec DirectCD, Hotburn, etc, you can still add files to your CD when using Library PCs. The procedure is the same as that of saving data onto blank CD-R and CD-RW. Please refer to the section “How to create CD with my CD-R or CD-RW”.
How to read files saved on CD-R or CD-RW from non-Library PCs?
On your Win 95/98/NT/XP PC, you can read files from the CD-R or CD-RW as normal CD. No special software is needed.
What is the reading and writing speed of CD-writable drive?

For Compaq Pentium 4 PC (black casing):
The CD-writable drive reads at 48x speed, rewrites on CD-RW disc at 16x speed and records on CD-R disc at 48x speed.

For HP d325 PC (black casing):
The CD-writable drive reads at 48x speed, rewrites on CD-RW disc at 24x speed and records on CD-R disc at 48x speed.

For Acer Veriton 7700GX PC (black casing):
The CD-writable drive reads at 52x speed, rewrites on CD-RW disc at 32x speed and records on CD-R disc at 52x speed.
