Overcoming challenges to earn the degree

NTU's graduating Class of 2007: The next lap 

Jan Han from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, College of Humanities, Arts, & Social Sciences, is an anime enthusiast pursuing a master's programme in media economics at NTU. He shares how NTU has given him opportunities to pursue his passion. Also featured are Toh Minglin from School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, College of Engineering, who is now pursuing his PhD, and Adrian Zhong Desheng from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), College of Engineering who is now a Process Integration Engineer at Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing.

NTU celebrates the graduation of its Class of 2007

NTU celebrates the graduation of its Class of 2007 from 23 to 27 July 2007. This year's Convocation sees the pioneer batch of graduands for the Bachelor of Engineering (Bioengineering), Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science), Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental Engineering), Master of Management in Hospitality, Master of Science (Information Systems) and Master of Science (Applied Finance). 

A total of 15 ceremonies will be held over the Convocation period, with more than 7,250 students graduating. The number of undergraduates and graduates receiving higher degress are around 4,850 and 2,400 respectively.  

The first ceremony witnessed the conferment of the President Emeritus title on Professor Cham Tao Soon, to recognise his outstanding contributions and distinguished service to the University. The University Scholars Award was also launched at the first ceremony. 18 outstanding University Scholars of the Class of 2007 received their awards from Mr S R Nathan, President of Singapore and NTU Chancellor. The teachers and NTU faculty members they honour were presented with certificates of honour.

NTU graduation: Leaders for tomorrow

Mok Li Kuang from the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, College of Engineering shares how an NTU education is practical and focuses on building character. Susi, also from the College of Engineering, shares her passion for research and how she is now pursuing her PhD studies with NTU. Adrian Yeap who graduated from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, College of Humanities, Arts, & Social Sciences, is now a copywriter with Leo Burnett. Also featured is NTU's newly launched "University Scholars Award" which recognises the influence of inspirational teaching, and the enduring bonds that are forged between teachers and students. Recipients of the Award and the Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medalists are listed.

NTU graduates excel in more ways than one

Joy Chua from the College of Science, now a research officer with IMCB, shares how she wants to become a future cancer researcher. Chong Weihan from the Nanyang Business School, now an M&A analyst with DBS Bank, honed his leadership skills in NTU, becoming President of the NTU Accountancy and Business Club and Chairman of Camp Ideapolis. Other graduates featured include the only local graduate employed on consultancy track with McKinsey & Co - Julin Yeo, Master of Education graduate Norman Kee who is passionate about special education, and engineering graduate and PhD student-to-be Tse Chun Ho.

NTU shows graduates path to success

Julin Yeo from Nanyang Business School conquered McKinsey & Co's famously rigorously hiring process to be employed as a Business Analyst - and she is the only local graduate to achieve that. Master of Business Administration graduate, Wang Hairong, recently listed his company on SGX. He credits NTU's Executive MBA programme for giving him the knowledge and exposure to take his business further. Rowena Pangilinan graduated from the School of Humanities & Social Sciences's Master of Arts in Contemporary China programme, and now aims to pursue a career in foreign service, or as a researcher or teacher. Also featured are engineering graduates Bay Zijing who is now a research engineer with DSO National Laboratories, and Cipto Luisman who is pursuing his PhD.

NTU graduates at the top of their game

Two business graduates - Emily Tan and Benny Quek - share how they sharpened their business acumen at NTU. Emily is the only local graduate selected for a Finance Management Trainee position with JP Morgan Asia Finance. The entrepreneurial lady also has a pro-auditing t-shirt design business. Benny is an associate with the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation. He is also a billiard enthusiast. Also featured are Weng Jie from the College of Science, who is an NTU Alumni Gold Medal Recipient, and engineering graduate Bay Zijing who is now a research engineer with DSO National Laboratories.
