Professor Fan has over 30 years of experience in research, teaching, planning
and design in the transport field. He is on the International Civil Aviation
Organization's (ICAO) panel of experts available for assignment to member
countries under its Technical Cooperation Program. He served as a Board
Member of the Singapore Land Transport Authority from 1995 to 1997. He is in
the Academic Council of the China-Singapore Airport Management Academy.
Prior to joining NTU, he was a Manager with a transport consulting firm in
California.
Dr Fan was the external examiner to the School of Civil Engineering, Universiti
Sains Malaysia, for its BEng and MSc degree programs from 2000 to 2002. He
served as external examiner to the University of New South Wales, Australia and
Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand in examining graduate students' thesis.
Dr Fan has also undertaken consulting work for both private and public sectors
in Singapore, international agencies such as the ICAO and the Asian
Development Bank, as well as with government departments in several
countries including China, Fiji, Philippines, Venezuela, and Western Samoa.
