SSP sponsors advanced research through seed funding for all MS student projects and PhD thesis research work. Additional research support and funding for more extensive initiatives can be tied to the following sources :
- Tapping into the research thrusts of the Research Centres from the Institute of Environmental Science and Engineering and the Division of Environmental and Water Resources Engineering, CEE. These Research Centres are :
- Clean Water Programme: Singapore's efforts to reclaim land from the sea have produced large areas of land with highly permeable, shallow sand aquifers. By 2002 reclamation efforts at Changi will have produced roughly 30 square kilometers of land, with a potential storage capacity exceeding 70 million cubic meters. The joint NTU-Stanford research involves an integrated suite of laboratory, field, and modeling efforts to determine the water quality and hydrologic suitability of ASR at Changi.
- Leckie Research Lab at Stanford: see the latest activities at Professor Leckie's research group.

Industries can leverage off the opportunities created under the SSP, specifically the student research manpower and NTU’s research infrastructure, by
- Hosting internships for MS students as the MS students’ project component. The internship can be structured to address the industries’ specific engineering issues.
- Participating in the thesis research of PhD students
- Develop new joint research initiatives with SSP faculty addressing industries’ technology needs
- Continuing education: Various SSP workshops and seminars will be organized on a continuing basis. Details will be announced as these events are finalized.
Interested organizations should contact the SSP office for further details |
