Scholarship

SSP applicants are eligible for full or partial scholarships for the duration of their MS (1 year) or PhD (4 years) programme so long as they maintain a satisfactory academic performance.

A full scholarship includes tution grants at both NTU and Stanford, monthly stipends sufficient for basic housing and living expenses, and return airfare to Stanford.

A partial scholarship has varying degrees of financial support which covers tuition fees at Stanford and NTU. It also covers prepaid board & lodging at Stanford and return airfare for MS students attending the summer session at Stanford. PhD full scholarship holders however, receive a supplemental allowance and shall pay for their own air ticket, and arrange for their own board & lodging at Stanford.

Scholarship holders are required to serve an emloyment bond of 1 year (MS course) and 1.5 year (PhD course) in any Singapore-based company upon completion of their studies.

Additional expenses

While basic expenses are covered, students should be prepared for additional expenses such as books, insurance, medical expenses and travel between their home countries and Singapore.

Married students, in particular, have to make further arrangements for their families.

Course Fees for Self-Financing Students

The tuition and research fees charged are as follows:

a) MS Programme - S$24,000 for the 1-year duration

b) PhD Programme - S$44,000 over the 4-year duration

Besides tuition and research fees, prospective self-financing students need to cover their living expenses and accommodation. These are estimated at US$3000 for each academic quarter (3 months) at Stanford and S$800/month at NTU.

There are also other costs involved, such as air travel to Stanford and Singapore, textbooks, miscellaneous fees and incidental expenses.
