On
the local front, the School and the four research
centres have embarked on many collaborative arrangements
with local public bodies and the construction industries

with Overseas Universities
On
the international front, in order to continue its
pursuit of cutting edge research, the School has also
established links and embarked on collaborative research
with many top overseas universities. The School has
established links with various universities in the
U.K., U.S.A., Canada and Japan. Major overseas research
partners includes Cambridge

College, U.K. , Massachusetts
Institute of Technology and Stanford
University, U.S.A., and University
of Tokyo, Japan. Currently, there are
more than ten on-going collaborative projects involving
work on various research topics in Civil and Structural
engineering. Among topics investigated are the conversion
of municipal sewage sludge to activated carbon, analysis
of frame structures in fires, behaviour of concrete
