Collaborations

The School is keenly aware of the need for, and benefit of conducting collaborate research and development with local and overseas industrial partners and academia.

Co-operative research is conducted on two fronts: with local partners and with overseas universities and research centres.

Co-operating with Industry and Engineering Profession

On the local front, the School and the four research centres have embarked on many collaborative arrangements with local public bodies and the construction industries in Singapore. A variety of collaborative programmes have been initiated with major public and private bodies involved in Civil and Structural engineering. Major collaborative partners of the School include:

Research Collaboration with Overseas Universities

On the international front, in order to continue its pursuit of cutting edge research, the School has also established links and embarked on collaborative research with many top overseas universities. The School has established links with various universities in the U.K., U.S.A., Canada and Japan. Major overseas research partners includes Cambridge University and Imperial College, U.K. , Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University, U.S.A., and University of Tokyo, Japan. Currently, there are more than ten on-going collaborative projects involving work on various research topics in Civil and Structural engineering. Among topics investigated are the conversion of municipal sewage sludge to activated carbon, analysis of frame structures in fires, behaviour of concrete under triaxial stress and the effect of stress rotations on the strength and deformation of Singapore soils.
