Overview
Concrete
is still the most popular medium for construction. The
complexity in behaviour and the wide-ranging application
of this material have never ceased to generate great
interest as well as diversity in research focus. It
is therefore to be expected that research on this material
in NTU also covers many different interests. The areas
of interest covered can be broadly grouped into the
following five areas:
Concrete Material
- Properties and Behaviour
- Behaviour of concrete under triaxial
stress
- The effects of micro-fracture on
the structural responses of concrete
Performance
of RC Structures
- Strengthening of concrete element
with FRP plate
- High performance high strength
concrete beams under dynamic loads
- Design of reinforcement in concrete
slabs (punching shear strength)
- Large prestressed high strength
concrete deep beams
- Finite element modelling of deep
beams
Durability and
Long-term performance
- Evaluation of the durability of
high performance concrete by chloride penetration
Precast Technology
- Behaviour of precast hybrid steel/concrete
joints
- Shear-bond transfer mechanisms
of partial embedment of structural steel section
in precast concrete beam
- Behaviour of high-strength precast
concrete slender column
Special
structures
- Afloating tied system of offshore
airport
