About the Keynote Speakers
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans Wilhelm Alfen is Head of the Chair of Construction Economics and Director of the KnowledgeCentre @ Weimar at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in Germany. He holds a Ph. D in civil engineering and a degree in business administration both from RWTH Aachen, Germany.
Before joining the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in 2000 he held leading management positions in the construction and consulting industry. He has 20 years of professional experience in the design, financing, construction, maintenance and operation of infrastructure projects as well as in teaching and scientific research in Africa, America, Asia and Europe.

Dr . Toshiaki Fujimori , Senior Counsellor at Institute of Technology of Shimizu Corporation in Japan has been actively involved with the construction and engineering industry since 1964 when he joined Shimizu Corporation, and is a strong advocate of new technological developments and international collaboration in research and development.
As a leader of R&D in the Japanese construction industry, Dr. Fujimori has carried out numerous research collaborations between Japan, the U.S. and Europe which includes his career as the executive of Shimizu’s U.S. R&D arm in Boston and later as Director at Shimizu’s headquarters and Institute of Technology in Tokyo.
Dr. Fujimori’s research focuses on the areas of steel structure, non-destructive testing, ultrasonic testing, global environment and sustainable development. He is a f ellow of The Japan Welding Society , a member of The Engineering Academy of Japan, Inc. , a corporate member of The Science Council of Japan, and a board member of CIB in Europe, just to name a few .
Dr. Fujimori was awarded CERF Henry L. Michel Award for Industry Advancement of Research in 2003 and Lifetime Achievement Award from Japan Pressure Welding Association in 2005 .
Er. Heng Hua Jee is the Senior Vice President (Project Management) of Surbana Land ( China) Pte Ltd (SLC), a subsidiary of Surbana Corporation. He joined HDB in 1980 as a Structural Engineer and later as Senior Principal Project Manager. In Jul 2003, Er. Heng joined Surbana International Consultants Pte Ltd and appointed as Senior Vice President, Project Director, and Technical Director (Project Management). In 2005, he oversees the project management of SLC’s township development in various cities of China. He graduated from the University of Singapore and later obtained MSc (CE) from NUS. He is a Professional Engineer (CE) and a PMP of PMI(USA).
Er. Heng has vast experience in the design, supervision and project management of construction projects including residential, commercial, prefab housing and others. He was the Project Manager heading the development and construction of the New HDB Hub at Toa Payoh. This prestigious project won BCA Best Buildable Design Awards 2003 and BCA Construction Excellence Awards 2004. He was also the Project Director of the first 50-storey HDB development, The Pinnacle @ Duxton. Due to his significant contribution to the construction industry, he received an honorable award of Outstanding Project Manager 2005, by the Society of Project Managers (SPM, Singapore).
Dr. Alfred A. Yee completed studies for his BS degree in civil engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and his MS degree in structural engineering from Yale University.
He is the inventor and holder of numerous patents on devices for precast construction and novel structural framing systems. In recognition of his work in concrete technology and proven unique concepts for both land and sea structures, particularly in the field of precast design and construction, the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology conferred upon him an Honorary Doctor of Engineering degree in 1976 and Dr. Yee was elected a member of the prestigious U.S.A. National Academy of Engineering.
He is the author of over 25 technical articles on precast and prestressed concrete, and In 1997, Dr. Yee was awarded the PCI Medal of Honor for his extraordinary contributions to the precast/prestressed concrete construction industry, and especially for his innovative design of precast/prestressed concrete high rise buildings along the Pacific Rim which have survived some of the highest intensity earthquakes in the world.
