Planning
and Management of Infrastructure Systems
Phase I: Studies on Mega Projects in Singapore
Lifecycle management is a practice of coordinating
all efforts in planning, designing, building, operation and maintenance
of facilities to achieve effective and efficient management and
further enhance competitiveness in this economically dynamic era.
Aiming at minimizing overall lifecycle cost of facilities, lifecycle
management is a global trend and should be comprehensively studied.
CIS is currently working on a research project titled “Planning and Management of Infrastructure Systems, Phase I: Studies on Mega Projects in Singapore”.
The objective of this three-year research is to study the critical factors for the successful planning and management of mega projects in Singapore. Their design and planning, construction, operation and maintenance, and management strategies will all be researched from the perspective of lifecycle management. Through in-depth studies on these projects, a systematic and practical lifecycle management scheme could be developed for the planning and management of future mega projects in Singapore and the region.
The faculty members involved in this research are Ast/P Chen Po-Han and A/P Robert Tiong.
